The Northridge Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Lakewood Lancers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Northridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to Grandview Heights. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northridge in their matchups with Grandview Heights: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Northridge had strong showings from Ruby Cermak, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals, and Ava Travis, who scored 18 points. The match was Travis' third in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, Lakewood couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Philo on Wednesday, falling 68-34.
Northridge now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Northridge skirted past Lakewood 42-39 when the teams last played back in January. Will Northridge repeat their success, or does Lakewood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
