Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Taft walked away with it. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Marquez Gladiators on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Toreadors sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Chiara Cioffi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Taft's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adriana Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Savannah Munoz also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Taft's record now sits at 9-11. As for Marquez, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-3.
