Westview's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Elkhorn South by a score of 49-47. Westview found out winning isn't easy when you nail five fewer threes than your opponent.
Westview lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Stella Williams, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalyn Bailey, who scored 11 points.
Addy Penke was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mollie Probasco, who scored ten points.
Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Elkhorn South, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westview is on the road again on January 12th and play against Omaha South at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Elkhorn South, they will challenge Omaha Westside at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Omaha Westside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.3 points per game.
