Even though the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles have not done well against the Southeast Pirates recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. John F. Kennedy Catholic came out on top against Southeast by a score of 71-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
John F. Kennedy Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Darney, who scored 21 points. Didi Ryan was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.
John F. Kennedy Catholic pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Southeast, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John F. Kennedy Catholic will take on Lowellville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Lowellville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. As for Southeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Cardinal Mooney at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cardinal Mooney and Southeast are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
