Scotland is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Gray's Creek Bears will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Scotland has given up an average of 30 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Scotland is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Pinecrest last Friday. The matchup between the Fighting Scots and the Patriots didn't end well, with the Fighting Scots falling 36-21. The Fighting Scots haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Scotland might have lost, but man, Tjurian White was a machine: he rushed for 144 yards and two scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. White's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Meanwhile, Gray's Creek didn't have quite enough to beat E.E. Smith last Friday and fell 27-24.
Scotland will need to focus on slowing down K.J. Jackson, one of several Gray's Creek players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 150 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. 100 of Jackson's passing yards were hauled in by Dequan'Dj' Anthony.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.6 yards per carry. While two picked up at least nine total tackles, Chad Waleisky stood above the rest. He made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss). Gray's Creek's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.3.
Scotland's record is now 3-2. As for Gray's Creek, their record now sits at an identical 3-2.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: White and Ezekiel Reed. White just won't slow down this season and has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 109.4 rushing yards per game. Reed has been a dominant force too and has averaged 60.8 rushing yards per game.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Scotland has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 218.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gray's Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 164.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
