The Riverside Rebels waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down East Poinsett County 50-36. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Warriors are ranked 155th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Poinsett County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelis Garrett, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keandria Johnson, who scored six points along with four steals.
Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for East Poinsett County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.
Riverside will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Screamin Eagles at 4:00 p.m. As for East Poinsett County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
