Hunter extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 2 this week by beating Taylorsville, 38-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Viewmont made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,074 from 8,188. The improvement was the result of 24-16 victory over the Vikings last week.
Izaiah Paongo-lei was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 86 yards as Hunter topped the Warriors. Teammate Mitch McKnight added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Togiai was the best wideout in the league this week as Scott Henderson's team defeated Taylorsville. Togiai racked up three receptions for 48 yards. Jagger Wall helped Hunter's passing attack out by catching one ball for 19 yards.
Tristinn Martinez put up the best numbers through the air as Rod Wells' team fell to the Wolverines. He finished with eight completions for 41 yards and one touchdown. Martinez's favorite target this week was Jacey Stratton, who caught one pass for 35 yards.
The Warriors' Martinez and Emilio Salvador have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Martinez has thrown for 799 yards this season, while Salvador, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has 28 catches for 380 yards. Hunter's Trevon Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 565.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kearns takes on Granger. As it stands, the Cougars are in third, while the Lancers are in first.
