The Central Academy Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Lee Park Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Central Academy has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Central Academy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Parkwood just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 12-9 to the Wolf Pack.
Addison Crawford put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Crawford was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Emma Hunt was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieryn Peters, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Even though they lost, Central Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lee Park Prep gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Metrolina Christian Academy as Lee Park Prep made off with a 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ansley Green made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She also tossed four walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Alexander was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Baylor Currie, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Central Academy's record now sits at 5-4. As for Lee Park Prep, their record now sits at 4-2.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Central Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .552. However, it's not like Lee Park Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Academy came up short against Lee Park Prep in their previous meeting on March 3rd, falling 10-5. Can Central Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
