Indian Rocks Christian extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 5 this week by beating Moore Haven, 24-22. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Indian Rocks Christian moved up to 242 from 278 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Mark Buchanan's team climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Terriers 24-22.
Zeke McGaughy provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Golden Eagles defeated Moore Haven.
Michael Smith was the best receiver in the league this week as Carrollwood Day lost to First Baptist Academy. Smith tallied 3 receptions for 62 yards. Dominic Cuono helped Carrollwood Day's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.
Carrollwood Day's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Taylor King has thrown for 2,084 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Smith has 45 catches for 1,079 yards.
Accruing a total of 20 touchdowns this year, Garrett Young has thrown for 1,861 yards with 3 interceptions.
The Patriots fell to the Lions 20-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Smith ran for 18 yards and caught 3 passes for 62 yards in the defeat.
