The Del Oro Golden Eagles will take on the Bella Vista Broncos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Del Oro: 1.2, Bella Vista: 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bella Vista will be up against a hot Del Oro team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Del Oro came out on top against Ponderosa by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday. Five seems to be a good number for the Golden Eagles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Mikayla Finn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Abby Davidson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Avyn Brower was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Davidson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Del Oro lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Bella Vista never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They skirted past Yuba City 1-0. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Honkers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Hailey Shiflet's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks.
Bella Vista's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Del Oro has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Bella Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Del Oro couldn't quite finish off Bella Vista in their previous matchup back in May of 2016 and fell 3-1. Will Del Oro have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
