Minden has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Elm Creek Buffaloes at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Minden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Minden lost to Central City at home by a decisive 55-37 margin. Minden has struggled against Central City recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Minden saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kade Dorszynski, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The match was Dorszynski's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Ryan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, even though Bertrand scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Elm Creek still came out on top. Elm Creek secured a 61-56 W over Bertrand.
Elm Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kade Sindt, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Sindt scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Quin Oberg, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Minden's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Elm Creek, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Minden strolled past Elm Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 55-37. Will Minden repeat their success, or does Elm Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
