It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Chino Cowboys had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 42-22 margin over Jordan. Winning may never get old, but Chino sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Chino's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Ogata, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 113 yards and a touchdown on only four passes. Nathan Blanco was another key contributor, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Jordan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Washington. Despite the final result, he rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Jarret Nielsen, who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns.
Chino has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.8 points per game. As for Jordan, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Chino will head out on the road to face off against Mayfair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Mayfair is ranked 194th, while Chino is ranked 176th). Jordan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
