Basketball Recap: Dominic Garzolini's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Vermillion over Terre Haute North Vigo

South Vermillion lost against Terre Haute North Vigo back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The match between the South Vermillion Wildcats and the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots didn't end well, with the South Vermillion Wildcats falling 58-43. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Patriots are ranked 16th).

South Vermillion lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dominic Garzolini, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Garzolini a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Aden Wallace, who posted 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Terre Haute North Vigo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Woelfle, who went 5 for 11 en route to 16 points and five assists. Brady Stepp also deserves some recognition as he scored his first point of the season.

South Vermillion now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

South Vermillion has already played their next contest, a 92-70 defeat against Parke Heritage on the 14th. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-46 win against Terre Haute South Vigo on the 17th.
