Things were looking good for Lewis Mills after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They and Tolland were almost perfectly matched up, but the Spartans suffered a 22-21 defeat. The Spartans gained 123 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.
Lewis Mills' loss came about despite a quality game from Mason Scanlon, who rushed for 143 yards.
While Lewis Mills came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Tolland: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 31.6%. The team can thank Patryk Klonowski for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lewis Mills wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 45.5%.
Lewis Mills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alec Zeller and Marcos Muniz.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Plainville's strategy against Rocky Hill on Thursday. The Blue Devils took down the Terriers 35-20. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won four in a row.
A big part of Plainville's victory came down to the chemistry between Anthony Abarno and his top target Chase Bouchard. Abarno threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes while Bouchard gained 151 total yards and three touchdowns. Bouchard also posted 141 receiving yards, which is notable because Plainville is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Plainville's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Jose Gutierrez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 14 total tackles.
Lewis Mills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Plainville, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Lewis Mills was taken down by Plainville 27-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
