The Papillion-LaVista South Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Elkhorn South Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Elkhorn South is ranked fifth).
Last Thursday, Papillion-LaVista South suffered a tough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Bellevue West. Papillion-LaVista South was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Derek Jones, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Jones was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Royceon Skogerboe also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn South entered their tilt with Omaha North with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Elkhorn South didn't even let Omaha North onto the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday.
Papillion-LaVista South's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Elkhorn South, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Papillion-LaVista South was taken down by Elkhorn South 52-14 in their previous matchup back in September. Can Papillion-LaVista South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
