The Geneseo Maple Leafs will head out on the road to face off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Geneseo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while IC Catholic Prep is ranked 17th).
Last Friday, Geneseo didn't have quite enough to beat Rock Island and fell 15-12. Geneseo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fenwick 42-9 at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point IC Catholic Prep had established a 32 point advantage.
It was another big night for Joey Gliatta, who rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Gliatta was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Dennis Mandala also helped out by tossing the rock for 267 yards.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Rock Island's win pushed their record up to 3-6, while Geneseo's loss dropped theirs down to 6-3.
