Softball Recap: Iota Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Iota waltzed into their matchup on Monday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against the Oak Hill Rams as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Saige Cherry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cherry was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Iota got a massive performance out of Charli Sonnier, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Sonnier a new career-high. Valentina Doroteo also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Iota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Iota's record now sits at 21-7. As for Oak Hill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Iota will square off against Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Hill, they will face off against Glenmora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
