Baseball Recap: Hamilton County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Hamilton County came into Friday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Gadsden County Jaguars a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The game marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season.

Sebastian Tordsen was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Hamilton County let Braxton Stormant and Cody Doolittle run wild. Stormant scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Doolittle scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Hamilton County is 2-1 when Doolittle posts two or more runs, but 1-13 otherwise. Joshua Garcia was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Hamilton County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gadsden County struck out eight times.

Hamilton County's win bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Gadsden County, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton County will welcome Lanier County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lanier County will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Hamilton County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gadsden County, they will square off against Wakulla Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
