The Cyprus Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Bonneville Lakers at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Cyprus will be strutting in after a victory while Bonneville will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Cyprus didn't have too much trouble with Taylorsville on the road as they won 52-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cyprus.
Cyprus relied on the efforts of Veanna Pau'u, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Amelia Echternkamp, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Echternkamp continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sela Ama, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bonneville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-26 loss at the hands of Viewmont. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bonneville has scored all season.
Cyprus now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Bonneville, they bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Cyprus was taken down by Bonneville 50-19 in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can Cyprus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
