Basketball Recap: Belen Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Belen hadn't done well against Los Alamos recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Belen Eagles enjoyed a cozy 54-40 victory over the Los Alamos Hilltoppers. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Belen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Trujillo, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Trujillo a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Bob, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Belen was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Los Alamos had strong showings from Sofia Trujillo, who put up 14 points, and Kohynn Young, who had 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jenae Velarde, who posted five points.

Belen's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Los Alamos, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Belen didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 33-32 win against Moriarty on the 7th. As for Los Alamos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-32 loss against West Las Vegas on the 7th.
