After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mulberry Grove, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles by a score of 9-4. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Addison Wasson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Wasson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Ryleigh Sarver was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Macee Rodman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will head out to face off against Dieterich at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brownstown/St. Elmo, they will venture away from home to square off against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
