The Lyons Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clear Creek 55-11 at home. That looming 55-11 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lyons yet this season.
Lyons had a senior duo take command as Gemma Powell scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals and Marley Chase scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gen Newell, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Clear Creek struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lyons pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
The victory got Lyons back to even at 5-5. As for Clear Creek, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will take on DSST: Cedar at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (DSST: Cedar is ranked 237th, while Lyons is ranked 259th). Clear Creek won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Gilpin County at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Gilpin County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Wednesday.
