The Simon Kenton Pioneers were the 76-46 winner over the Bryan Station Defenders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Simon Kenton was beaten by Bryan Station 82-48 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Simon Kenton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Bryan Station is ranked 25th).
Simon Kenton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Bach, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Travis Krohman, who scored seven points.
Simon Kenton has fallen quite a ways from their 22-11 record last season and are now at 5-9. As for Bryan Station, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simon Kenton will face off against Lloyd Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lloyd Memorial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Bryan Station won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mercer County at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th.
