The Sutton Mustangs lost against the Cross County Cougars back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Sutton was the victim of a rough 49-25 loss at the hands of Cross County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sutton has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Sutton saw an underclassman step up: Payton Reed scored nine points.
Tanner Hollinger was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds for Cross County. Another player making a difference was Ashton Seim, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Sutton has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Cross County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sutton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Centennial is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Cross County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heartland at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
