The Pine Ridge Thorpes will head out on the road to square off against the Lakota Tech Tatanka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Ridge is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Pine Ridge earned a 65-53 win over Crow Creek. Given Pine Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Crow Creek is ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kanye Hollow Horn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Rouillard, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, Lakota Tech scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Hill City by a score of 92-80. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lakota Tech.
It was another big night for Gilbert White Jr., who scored 27 points along with seven steals and two blocks. Riley Casey was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Pine Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Lakota Tech, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Everything went Pine Ridge's way against Lakota Tech in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Pine Ridge made off with a 80-60 win. Will Pine Ridge repeat their success, or does Lakota Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
