The Salem Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bridgeton Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Salem unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-41 walloping at the hands of Gloucester Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Salem has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bridgeton's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost to Mainland Regional on the road by a decisive 63-47 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bridgeton in their matchups with Mainland Regional: they've now lost five in a row.
Jameel Purnell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 11 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Russell, who scored four points along with three steals.
Salem's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Bridgeton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Salem opened the new year with a less-than-successful 75-67 loss to Bridgeton. Can Salem avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
