Peoria has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Agua Fria Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Peoria will be strutting in after a victory while Agua Fria will be coming in after a loss.
Peoria scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Goldwater 76-48 at home. That 28 points margin sets a new team best for Peoria this season.
Desmone Brooks-conley was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Jackson Jr., who scored eight points along with nine assists and two steals.
Agua Fria suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Deer Valley 101-52. While losing is never fun, Agua Fria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Deer Valley is ranked 22nd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anthony Perez, who scored 11 points. Xavier Daniels was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Peoria's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15. As for Agua Fria, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Peoria have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 33.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Agua Fria struggles in that department as they've made 38.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Peoria beat Agua Fria 61-52 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Peoria repeat their success, or does Agua Fria have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
