Baseball Recap: Redwood Has No Trouble Against Branson

Redwood came out on top against Branson on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run third inning. The Giants blew past the Bulls 16-5. The victory continues a trend for the Giants in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won four in a row.

Jack Gurley looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sam Gersch was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Trono, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Redwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Redwood's record is now 15-8-1. As for Branson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Redwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Branson, they will square off against International at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
