Ruskin Christian gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Zephyrhills Christian Academy by a score of 10-5. Ruskin Christian hasn't had any issues with Zephyrhills Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Reese Fagan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fagan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, DJ Vega was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Zach Pepper was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian came out on top against Oasis Christian on Friday by a score of 8-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by seven runs or more this season.
Like Ruskin Christian, Grace Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Bryce Purkey. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Purkey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Johns, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Fanelli, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Grace Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Ruskin Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Grace Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
