The Gateway Panthers won the last time they faced the Lake Buena Vista Vipers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Gateway strolled past Lake Buena Vista with points to spare, taking the game 62-47.
Several Vipers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryan Mwangovya, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Mwangovya is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Travis Ligene, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
Gateway has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Lake Buena Vista, they bumped their record down to 7-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. St. Cloud is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. As for Lake Buena Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Timber Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Timber Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
