Riverside hasn't had much luck against Stanton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Generals will look to defend their home field against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Riverside has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Riverside's offense. They came up short against Wolfson on Wednesday, falling 21-0.
Meanwhile, Stanton put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let Parsons Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Marissa Joseph made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Stanton let Isabella Moyer-Quiros and Leah Joseph run wild. Moyer-Quiros earned three RBI and two runs, while Joseph went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Yuliana Verdin was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Stanton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Riverside suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Stanton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Generals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
