The Triton Central Tigers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Kokomo 47-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Triton Central of the 49-48 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Triton Central saw an underclassman step up: Maryrose Felling scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Hailey Harris was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Ma'Kaela Drake, who scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aijia Elliott, who scored seven points.
Triton Central's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Kokomo, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Triton Central will head out on the road to take on Covenant Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Triton Central is ranked 125th). As for Kokomo, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Tipton at 6:00 p.m. Tipton comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
