The Prairie View Thunderhawks are taking a road trip to take on the Chaparral Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Prairie View is coming into the game hot, having won their last 15 games.
Prairie View's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Brighton by a score of 5-0.
Favi Gaeta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Giovanni Tarin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Prairie View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Chaparral got the win against Eaglecrest on Saturday by a conclusive 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Prairie View, Chaparral also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Munroe. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Munroe a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ryne Dodson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Chaparral is undefeated when Dodson posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Logan Manuello was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Prairie View's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Chaparral, their record now sits at 13-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Prairie View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chaparral struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Prairie View beat Chaparral 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Thunderhawks repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
