Basketball Recap: Gaither Piles Up the Points Against King

Gaither hadn't done well against King recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Gaither Cowboys really took it to the King Lions for the full four quarters, racking up an 88-48 victory. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Gaither got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Manrow out in front who posted 22 points. Another player making a difference was Asiah Perry, who scored 17 points.

King's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nuri Hakim, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Towuon Folkes, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Gaither and bumps their season record up to 12-10. As for King, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Gaither didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 71-61 win against Durant on the 24th. King has also already played their next game, a 73-53 defeat against Leto on the 24th.
