The Crow Creek Chieftains lost against the Pine Ridge Thorpes back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Crow Creek fell 65-53 to the Thorpes. While losing is never fun, Crow Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Thorpes are ranked ninth).
Kanye Hollow Horn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pine Ridge, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hollow Horn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Rouillard, who scored 20 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Crow Creek and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Pine Ridge, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.
Crow Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cubs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chamberlain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Chieftains like a good challenge. As for Pine Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. White River is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Thorpes a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
