For Akron, this counts as revenge for the 73-67 defeat Burlington walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Akron's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addicyn Kessinger, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kinsey Grauer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 7 assists.
Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Trinitee Holmes, who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. Another player making a difference was Bethany Cure, who scored 8 points.
Akron's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Burlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Akron will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Idalia at 4:00 p.m. Hopefully Idalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Burlington, they will head out on the road to face off against Holyoke at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
