The Crooms Academy Panthers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the First Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Crooms Academy is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
Crooms Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Holy Cross Lutheran Academy 51-5 on the road. That 46 points margin sets a new team best for Crooms Academy this season.
Crooms Academy found their leader in underclassman Erin Hassaballah, who scored 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hassaballah has scored at least a third of Crooms Academy's points. Zoe Fulgencio was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
First Academy posted their biggest victory since January 4th on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 41-20 margin over Orangewood Christian. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but First Academy was the (much) better team in the second half.
First Academy can attribute much of their success to Molly Beliveau, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Beliveau also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Neiford, who scored two points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Crooms Academy's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-11. As for First Academy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Crooms Academy took a serious blow against First Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 57-6. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Crooms Academy was down 43-1.
