The biggest upset of the week belonged to Platt, who took down 38th ranked Berlin, 34-14. Justin Potts ran for 205 yards and caught two passes for 28 yards in the win.
The Panthers extended the longest winning streak in Central Connecticut III East this week by beating the Redcoats, 34-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for Platt.
Berlin's dynamic duo of Mitch Williams and Justin Gombotz proved tough for Jason Bruenn's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Williams threw for 83 yards and one touchdown and Gombotz had 31 yards receiving. Tyler Bouchard helped Berlin's passing attack out by catching three balls for 26 yards.
Andrew McBride provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers defeated John Capodice's team. He completed four passes for 58 yards and also ran for 177 yards. McBride's favorite target this week was Creme Watford, who caught two passes for 30 yards.
The Redcoats' Williams and Bouchard have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 956 yards this season, while Bouchard, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 23 catches for 381 yards. Platt's Potts leads the league in rushing yards with 1319.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Berlin takes on second place Platt. Last week, Berlin fell to the Panthers, while the Panthers beat Berlin.
Gombotz of the the Redcoats is only 68 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Gombotz has rushed for 932 yards on 130 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Berlin takes on Platt. The Redcoats have allowed 93 points this season, while the Panthers have given up 162. Berlin allowed 34 points last week as it fell to Platt.
