The St. Joseph Regional Green Knights can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They took down DePaul Catholic 73-56. Given St. Joseph Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while DePaul Catholic is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jahmir Joseph continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds. Alex Mazzella was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
St. Joseph Regional's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for DePaul Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Regional will take on Saddle River Day at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Saddle River Day has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. DePaul Catholic will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Bergen Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Bergen Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully DePaul Catholic likes a good challenge.
