The Stayton Eagles and the Scappoose Indians will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stayton is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Saturday, Stayton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Taft, but they still walked away with a 36-31 victory. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Stayton has scored all year.
Kaden Holm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Scappoose was the victim of a rough 76-54 defeat at the hands of Regis on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Scappoose can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Regis is ranked third).
The win got Stayton back to even at 3-3. As for Scappoose, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-3.
Stayton strolled past Scappoose when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 67-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stayton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
