Breon Davis touchdown run in the first quarter.
Each side put up six points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 14.
Garry Lewis stood out for Douglas Byrd in the win. The senior running back ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
Henry Howard III played well for the Wolverines. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Coming into the game DB had allowed 22.7 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding Westover right around its season average of 12.3 points scored per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, Douglas Byrd came away with a 44-0 victory.
Westover (2-5) goes up against Union Pines in a 3A Cape Fear Valley game matchup next week, while Douglas Byrd (5-2) locks horns with Western Harnett also in a 3A Cape Fear Valley game.
