After four games on the road, Carolina Forest is heading back home. They will take on the St. James Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carolina Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while St. James is ranked 22nd).
Last Friday, Carolina Forest came up short against Socastee and fell 48-39.
Despite the defeat, Carolina Forest saw an underclassman step up: Nick Zincone scored 13 points along with five steals. Zincone hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Daniel Allen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Carolina Forest struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. James had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 55-42 win over Sumter.
Carolina Forest bumped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for St. James, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
Carolina Forest came up short against St. James when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 60-55. Can Carolina Forest avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
