Old school high school football coaches can only shake their heads. It's a social media world and many coaches are adapting quite well.

Here's a look at a handful of coaches who are not only embracing Twitter, but flat out owning it.

Football fans remember Patrick Surtain as a former three-time NFL Pro Bowler. But the first-year head coach of the No. 11 Patriots is a must-follow on Twitter, and extremely engaging. Whether he's posting about preseason pool parties, opinions on sports or everyday events - Surtain keeps his 11.6K followers entertained. The self-assured Surtain hopes to lead the Patriots to their third Class 5A state title in four years.

The commander of the No. 5 Longhorns is arguably high school football's most active head coach on Twitter. He's also one of the funniest. As seen above, McGuire's signature hashtag #TTHL (Turn Them Horns Loose) and endless use of emojis are comical. He'll look to steer the Longhorns to their second Class 6A Division II state title in three years.

Ford's Twitter handle might be the best of all head coaches in high school football. He's the ultimate players' coach with a great sense of humor and an avid supporter of emojis. He's utilized his down-to-earth attitude to transform a team that was below .500 three seasons ago into the No. 7 squad in the country.
Terry Gambill, Allen (Texas), @CoachGambill
"Bam!" That's Gambill's go-to phrase. Allen's first-year head coach is also a strong advocate of motivational quotes. Gambill seeks to guide the Texas power to its fourth state title in five years.
Chris Fore, Sultana (Hesperia, Calif.), @CoachFore
Fore seeks to inform and teach fellow coaches via Twitter. The Sultana assistant's account is a one-stop shop for all high school football fans and his weekly column on MaxPreps.com is a must-read.
