Athens Drive blew Riverside-Durham out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Riverside-Durham got their revenge. The Athens Drive Jaguars fell just short of the Riverside-Durham Pirates by a score of 17-15. Even though they lost, the Jaguars' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Ayla Cole made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Delaney Mize, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Athens Drive kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Athens Drive and nudges their season record down to 1-6. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Riverside-Durham, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Athens Drive will venture away from home to face off against Jordan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverside-Durham, they will host Vance Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
