Johnson is a perfect 5-0 against Clark since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Jaguars will face off against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johnson has nine straight victories, Clark has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Johnson was fully in charge, breezing past Churchill 48-3. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.
Johnson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elvis Estrada out in front who threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. Bryson Thompson was another key pass catcher, picking up 137 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Johnson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Clark might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Reagan who claimed the real prize. The Cougars came up short against the Rattlers, falling 38-14. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rattlers 7-0 in the first quarter.
Although Clark took the loss, they still got scores from Xavier Canavis and Dom Moore.
Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Clark, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Johnson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 176.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Johnson beat Clark 34-21 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
