On Monday, Crismon was the victim of a tough 75-51 defeat at the hands of Payson. Crismon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Crismon saw an underclassman step up: Mason Brown scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Helland, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Payson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominik Stuerzer led the charge by scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Stuerzer scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anderson Hatch, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Crismon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Payson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Crismon will head out on the road to face off against Apache Junction at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Apache Junction focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday. As for Payson, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Camp Verde at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Camp Verde is ranked 127th, while Payson is ranked 136th).
