The Jesuit Tigers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on Hillsborough with a sharp 28-7 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Jesuit also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Jesuit got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Griffin out in front who threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.4% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Gary Givens III, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jesuit's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Bishop Verot and 8-1 Armwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.5% over those games). As for Hillsborough, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jesuit will take on Tampa Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tampa Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 128 points over their last three games. As for Hillsborough, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wharton at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Wharton is ranked 108th, while Hillsborough is ranked 123rd).
