The Lecanto Panthers won the last time they faced the Crystal River Pirates, and things went their way on Friday too. Lecanto simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crystal River 70-25 at home. With Lecanto ahead 51-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Lecanto was led to victory by Bryleigh Florio and Ijyana Edwards. Florio dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 steals, while Edwards scored 24 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Florio has scored at least 25% of Lecanto's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Beaver, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Lecanto and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Crystal River, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lecanto will play host again and welcome Springstead, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Springstead is ranked 134th, while Lecanto is ranked 130th). As for Crystal River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hernando at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
