The Highland Park Scots had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-45 win over Richardson. Given Highland Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Richardson is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ma'Kayla Carr, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciera Hanks, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Highland Park pushed their record up to 19-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Richardson, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Park will take on MacArthur at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Richardson, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lake Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
