The McClintock Chargers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They escaped with a win against Central by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52. For McClintock, this counts as revenge for the 65-60 defeat Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
McClintock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyler Frye led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh McManaway, who scored 17 points.
McClintock has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClintock will take on Metro Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Metro Tech is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Central, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
